KATE JACKSON oozes style and charisma. The front woman of artrockers The Long Blondes, she joins us in the Last Days of Decadence to play us 90 mins of her favourite tracks.
By anyone's standards, DAVE HASLAM is a legend. A staple at the Mancunian musical mecca that was The Hacienda - Dave knowledge of music is vast. An accomplished and celebrated writer, he's penned the DJs favourite "Adventures on the wheels of Steel: The Rise of The Superstar DJs", "Manchester, England" and "Not Abba: The real story of the 1970s" as well as countless articles for publications like NME, The Times and Time Out. He is also an XFM DJ and a local hero who would almost certainly save a cat from a tree.
We went to see UNDERGROUND RAILROAD in the Macbeth recently and got very excited. Not only is the drummer the enigmatic front man, but echoes of pixies and sonic youth sent shivers down our spines... Perfectly dark, perfectly twisted.
A.HUMAN: well now here's a Twisted favourite. We can't fault Wall of Sound and we can't fault A.Human. They came to play a secret acoustic set to help us close the Twisted Licks tipi in Standon Calling this year and blew our socks off with their hilarious rendition of All Night Long. Brilliant music which has rightly seen them explode - we heart them.
MY TIGER MY TIMING are a new favourite, and perfect opener with their addictive catchy indie-electro. Any friend of Gigwise is a friend of Twisted. We can't wait to get them drunk and get them dancing...
The beautiful LUCIA LICKS is our Twisted resident for the evening. She'll be using her encyclopaedic knowledge of new and breaking indie bands to get you moving away from the tasty Twisted Licks coctails.
Which leads us to GIGWISE! Twisted Tamsin started her musical career writing punk reviews for Gigwise Liverpool and as such has warm gooey feelings about them. One of the fairer and more rational online music mags - they give praise where praise is due and reign in the bitter tongue of the journo. Gigwise we salute your honest journalism!
