Their debut album was recently released to widespread critical acclaim, building on their reputation as one of London's finest live bands. The ear-searing, over-cranked sonic savagary of the Jim Jones Revue makes for a breathless listening experience (Classic Rock) If Little Richard has written this he'd still be boasting about it today (Mojo) WHITE RUSSIANS (London) A return to Backstreets for the White Russians. Dark, disturbing and steeped in Americana, this band have recently released their self-titled debut album. They've played Austin's SXSW and been heavily played by Steve Lamacq on his radio show. Fans of Cash, Beefheart and Waits will not be disappointed. LES GARS (Toronto/London) Recent arrivals in London, Les Gars have already been featured in the NME, Fly and in the Guardian. They play free-spirited garage-rock songs about rubbish jobs, booze and girls. The guitars, bass and drums all sound as though they are being played by drunken tramps wearing fingerless gloves and the singer sounds like he's been shouting all night. (The Guardian) ROOK AND THE RAVENS (Manchester) Classic Americana inspired bluesy rock that will remind you of Neil Young, the Band and CCR. They are currently recording their debut album and have been introduced by Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6), heavily played on BBC Manchester and have supported the Futureheads. + Drunken DJs until late. |
