...at the Windmill: APACHE BEAT (Brooklyn, NY) The next hot-as-sh8t thing out of the fine borough, Apache Beat up the post-punk ante with dark yet danceable rhythms, tribal drumming, distorted riffs and full-bodied female vocals. The five-piece take their name from former Kraftwerk and Neu! drummer Klaus Dinger's phrase for krautrock's motorik pulse and are signed to SLU Records (Crystal Castles, The Teenagers etc). A hit at this year's CMJ festival, where they were joined onstage by Lightspeed Champion.
