While it may seem a bizarre central theme for a whole album, Hayman evokes an equally nostalgic and romantic atmosphere with songs about life and love in the suburbs that showcase Hayman’s eye for detail and ear for folk-pop melodies. An extremely personal collection of love songs, hence the decision to make it a solo album, the songs were recorded with Brian O'Shaunessy at Blackhorse Studios in London (Primal Scream, Broken Family Band), as well as by Shirley at home.
