Hi, The Loves and Pocketbooks are heading out on a short tour to celebrate our albums coming out this spring. Here's the details of the 'northern' leg of the tour. Hope to see you along the way! ---------------------------------------------------- Friday 10 April - Manchester Pull Yourself Together and It Sounded Better In My Head present… The Loves + The Bobby McGee’s + Pocketbooks + The Lovely Eggs The Black Lion Hotel, Chapel Street, M3 5BZ / ---------------------------------------------------- Saturday 11 April - Hull DiY Hi5 present… The Loves + Pocketbooks + The Rocky Nest The New Adelphi, 89 De Grey Street, HR5 2RU / ---------------------------------------------------- Sunday 12 April - Newcastle Fake Indie Label presents… The Loves + Pocketbooks The Head of Steam, 2 Neville Street, NE1 5EN / Perfect three-minute pop songs with playful 60s influences, combining the best bits of the Monkees and the Velvet Underground. The Loves are favourites of John Peel and recorded four sessions with him before 2004. Their 2007 album "Technicolour" was much acclaimed, even becoming the Sunday Times’ LP of the Week. The Cardiff band are now returning with a new album, ‘Three’, which will be released by Fortuna Pop! in April 2009. Pocketbooks are an indiepop band from London, combining melodic boy/girl harmonies, spiralling guitars and delicate piano lines. Simon Armitage describes them as “pure snowshaker pop, and more dressing-table than kitchen sink”. Their debut album, ‘Flight Paths’, will be released by How Does It Feel To Be Loved? in June 2009.
