Which Way Is Up! at The George Tavern, 373 Commercial Road,London, E1 0LA Doors 8:30pm DJs until late after the bands Tickets: £4 in advance There are just a handful more Which Way Is Up! shows to come and this is being moved to The George Tavern (cos are regular home are showing some rubbish football game, or something. Anyways, onto the music and we're hoping to make this a cracking line up for a penultimate show. ★★ Evans The Death ★★ http://www.facebook.com/evansthedeath Newly signed to Fortuna Pop! Evans the Death are a five piece from London town and their debut album has been getting rave reviews from the music press and bloggers alike. The Death, as nobody calls them, have played a fair few times for Odd Box in the past, back from when we had to sneak the band in to The Wilmington Arms on fake passports because they were under 18. They're a little older now. Come see whether they've got any wiser. Evans the Death make frenetic and infectious punk pop which exudes the kind of unbridled charisma, intelligence, and runaway energy that promises a singularly exciting future for the band. Comprising Dan Moss (guitar, vocals), Olly Moss (guitar), Katherine Whitaker (vocals, keys), Rob Mitson (drums), and Lan McArdle (bass), and named after the undertaker in Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood, Evans the Death are poised to fulfill their potential as one of the most refreshing and exhilarating new groups around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdk9x3CEca4 ★★ Big Wave ★★ http://wearebigwave.com/ I stumbled across Big Wave at the Buffalo Bar. They were on a bill with Tender Trap and their jangle surf tinged pop was a like a blast of a fresh sea breeze this will be their 2nd London outing as they make their way up from the Torquay. Big Wave have a sound that crosses a hinterland that has indiepop flirting with the poppy moments of dreampop. Their sound is reminiscent of the finest Swede pop (think Sambassadeur or The Radio Dept. at their most pop). You're all gonna love this band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxUpgXCIcAw ★★ Model Village ★★ http://modelvillagethepopgroup.tumblr.com/ Model Village are a folksy pop band from London and Cambridge with a form book as long as your arm where previous bands are concerned. None of that matters now though, so come and revel in the Model Village of the future! Their debut album 'A Solution To Everything’ is released at the end of April. "An album that features actual songs assembled with care and affection is not a common occurrence these days but Model Village have one here. If I were in the habit of drinking then I would raise a glass to that" - Bluesbunny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh3DubTeG7Y There is one more band to be added to the line up, too. |
