Odd Box Presents:
✭ Wake The President ✭
http://www.facebook.com/wakethepresident
The core of Wake the President is Bjorn and Erik Sandberg. Twin brothers from Glasgow who have been building a reputation as musicians and promoters for the last four years. Erik is the lyricist and main vocalist; Bjorn is the guitarist and focuses on things musical.
Wake The President clearly embrace the musical template of the ’80s Postcard records guitar pop, particularly Orange Juice, The Fire Engines and Josef K. But rather than look backward to make sure they paint within the lines, they stride forward on their own path.
✭ T.O.Y.S. ✭
http://toystheband.tumblr.com/
T.O.Y.S are a three piece band based in London and Leeds UK, consisting of keyboard, bass and drums, and they play heavy bass driven dancefloor indie, kraut pop. Although, that’s really just a pigeonhole.
Personnel is as follows:
Dave Kitchen………….Vocals, Keyboard.
Adam John Miller………..Bass.
Eddy Lines………………Drums.
The band have been going for just over two years. First EP was released on Dufflecoat Records in 2011. It sold out. It's now been remastered and is available for a pay what you like fee over on Bandcamp. Their new EP is coming soon (A joint release between Odd Box and the band themselves).
✭ Casual Sex ✭

Casual Sex are terribly brilliant. Samuel Smith is also one of Glasgow's finest producers (he has worked extensively with the likes of Chemikal Underground, Optimo Music, WoS/Pias), a perfectionist. I'm not going to compare CS to anyone, that would be rude, but they do have a track coming out in March on the We Can Still Picnic 12" white vinyl compilation so you can make your own mind up. I think they're better than sex with an ex." - Douglas MacIntyre - Creeping Bent
✭ POST ✭
http://post-music.co.uk/
The most un-google friendly name in Pop music? Possibly. POST are a quartet from Glasgow and their sound hints at the the sound that their city was once renowned for.
A highlight of Glaswegian label We Can Still Picnic's new comp, this Eno-smart group impressed Keith Old Etonian Tory fuckpig with their Felt meets Josef K sound.
-from the MOJO playlist, May 2012
POST's scurrying, shuffling, electric work outs combine a classic Glasgow sound with the urgent experimentation of Sonic Youth and Television. Such enjoyable nuggets of scratchy, intelligent guitar music are hard to come by these days, but not when this genuine collection of capable, enthusiastic young Scots are in the room.

Here's a bit more about ✭ We Can Still Picnic ✭
We Can Still Picnic was born in Glasgow on the tenth day of October 2010, or 10/10/10 if you prefer. WCSP was started to amuse ourselves and challange the residing orthodoxy and general malaise currently enveloping the city. We Can Still Picnic is taken from a Vic Godard lyric from the Subway Sect song Stool Pigeon.."things are tough, we can still picnic"...
