✭ The Wolfhounds ✭
http://www.facebook.com/TheWolfhounds
Formed in the early 80s (no one quite knows when, as the process was somewhat random and organic), the Wolfhounds became one of Britain’s most persistent and consistent underground bands in the latter part of that decade, and featured David Callahan on vocals. The band appeared on the legendary NME C86 cassette. The band recorded three sessions for John Peel.
The band have played occasional live shows since returning in 2005. However 2011/2012 have seen a renewed vigour and new material being written and recorded. Their new single 'Cheer Up' (Odd Box Records) is their first vinyl 7" since 1989.
Their music evolved quickly from its beginnings in a collision between garage punk and post-punk, to (what is now called) indie pop, through to detuned and effected guitar compositions that saw them likened to Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, as well as early forays into sampling, though they always retained an accessible pop edge to even their more wayward experimentations.
✭ Chips For The Poor ✭

London's finest: Hypnotic. Fun. Catchy. Chips For The Poor are firm favourites of Odd Box. They utilise an archaic drum machine over some seriously crunchy guitar noises whilst Scott does his singing 'thing'.
"Drum machine-aided fall-esque rambunctiousness" - Rough Trade Shops.
"Bending genres like a strongman" - Spoonfed
"The sound of two worlds colliding" - Marc Riley - BBC 6 Music.
"Vampire Weekend meets The Butthole Surfers. It's a hit!" - John Kennedy, XFM.
"This single is a killer. Loved it the second I heard it" - Jon Hillcock - New Noise.
"This is ace! - infectious, intuitive melodies and dirty tones" 5/5 - Norman Records Single of the Week.
"John Peel would have loved these. Velvet Underground meets Stump" - Sabotage Times Magazine.
✭ Sleaford Mods ✭
http://sleafordmods.bandcamp.com/
Sleaford Mods is J Williamson - vocal/all writing, and Simon Claridge on computer! He used to be in bands but got sick of the bullshit, so he started this amazing punk/hip-hop/comedy racket. New album 'Wank' is out now on Deadly Beefburger records.
✭ Summer Hunter ✭
http://www.facebook.com/summerhunter.band
Stephanie Goodman (Shrag), Leigh Anne Walter (ex Shrag, Dogtooth) and Neil Palmer (Fire Dept) have a new band called Summer Hunter. You're gonna love them.
"Summer Hunter play hard-riffing, pretty, easy-to-love pop songs made from experience, wisdom and keen imagination. They soar high above the territory fought over by the tribes of rock and pop, following the river of song upstream to its source in the high mountains of myth and truth.
Summer Hunter's melodies grow like crazy in your ears. Some liken Summer Hunter to The Equals or The Troggs, others say their their sharp-edged choogaloo recalls the rhythmic Bayou pulse-beat of Creedence Clearwater Revival. They've even been compared with <INSERT NEW BANDS>. The fact is, they're sunshiny heartbeat messengers, true freewheelin' independents, writing their own songs their way and dealing with the world and everyone they meet as compadres, friends, good neighbours."
