The ICA celebrates all things Blondie next month, with films, TV clips, Blondie karaoke and guests in conversation (but not Debbie Harry!). It doesn't look to me to be a particularly inspiring program, but thought it may be of interest to some of you. I do recommend the films Hairspray & Videodrome, but as it's probably only Kev who hasn't seen those and he lives in a far off foreign land, it's probably a worthless recommendation. You might be able to help here Milchy - a song I was thinking of for the atypical songs thread. A few years ago a mate played me this track - it was almost lounge music, or certainly more easy listening than you'd expext. I couldn't guess who it was. Turns out it was Blondie - not sure what it was called but it's on one of their studio albums I'm pretty sure (mark 1). Any ideas? |

Hang on - are you having a laugh or did you not know? That video was filmed in The Isles Of Scilly! I know some of the people in it! It's definitely not that one - I think it was earlier and not a single. |

Yup. They came to Scilly to film that - out of all the places in the world! Shame it was their shittest single, but still... It wasn't tropical sounding or exotic - more just a casual thing - they type of song you'd expect from Dusty of Carole King or someone... I think... |

I think you might have it there. Deffo not The Tide Is High. It was a song I didn't know. Will try and check with my mate when I se him next and report back, but this is seeming likely. |
