i used to love DiS when i was a kid (reading about Cay, Twist, My Vitriol [who i hated], Muse etc) but my experiences with it in bands suck (no, i've not had a bad review from them!).

it took me longer to get reviewed by DiS than by NME...

and that's not through lack of trying.

i thought that, like most webzines, they functioned through a Love of the music they covered. but they've seemed more 'industry driven', from like 2003 onwards.

maybe Drowned in Sound will become a weekly magazine that covers slightly more off kilter acts than NME, like what NME was to Melody Maker back in the day?

Apparently its splintering off into various genre specific categories(ie POP, RAP, GUITARS)It sounds hideous.

Anyways we got soundsxp, plan b, and maybe one day GIITTV will be good enough to be mentioned in the same breath...
