Am I the only person who doesn't like Movie soundtracks? I used to own a few. I never ever played them. They are (usually) like a poor man's compilation tape/CDr.

I used to, as a rule, have a lot of scorn for film soundtracks. Then I heard the Rushmore soundtrack and it worked so perfectly that I had to reassess my position. Then I got into Ennio Morricone, and watched stuff like The Wicker Man and Valerie, and started to really appreciate how an individual or group can compose musical magic for a film that stands alone as a set of compositions.

I think my favourite kind of film soundtracks will always be ones composed entirely by one person or group - after all, how does that really differ from a regular album?
