The first (of two) launch shows for The Millipedes debut LP 'Shake Your Bones' released on Odd Box Records on 7th November. Advance tickets will be on sale shortly for £5.

Doors at 8pm
Music until 11pm
DJ until Midnight

In foolhardy defiance of the increasing non-physical nature of musical product The Millipedes debut album Shake Your Bones is being released by Odd Box Records as a series of 3 7” EPs that when collected form a box set with amazing original artwork by Sheffield comic artist Oliver Allchin. The tracks that make up Shake Your Bones were partially produced by legendary Sheffield producer Alan Smyth (Pulp, The Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the Makers) at his 2Fly studios in Sheffield.

Playing the night are Lot Lizards, The Millipdes and The Nuns

Lot Lizards (London)- http://www.myspace.com/78678593
Lot Lizards are a furious lo-fi fuzz'n'roll band that have been compared to the Gories, Black Time and John Spencer to name just three.

"Rife with dark guitar growl. The most impressive work I've heard from GG and Meg yet. And I say they sound like Black Time in a good way, really" - Terminal Boredom (Jul 2009)

"Playing utterly blown-out, simple garage (think NECESSARY EVILS or maybe BANTAM ROOSTER) that's heavy on distorted guitar and vocals, backed by the simplest drum beats. The crush of noise on "Cynical Damage," the first song on side-B (yes, with organ) leaves me wanting more of that kind of punishment" - Maximum R’n’R Issue 313

"Uber lo-fi from Britatin that’s more stripped down than the Gories and noisier. No bass, just hollerin’ and beatin’." Razorcake (Jan 2009)

The Millipedes (Sheffield) - http://www.myspace.com/themillipedes
Sheffield garage rock super-group The Millipedes formed in 2007, originally featuring a singer called Milly. The singer didn’t stick around but the name did. The Millipedes boast pseudonymous members of bands including The Long Blondes, Smokers Die Younger, Velodrome 2000 and Thee Motherfuckers who have previously released records on labels including Rough Trade, Angular, Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation and a Vogue compilation curated by Karl Lagerfeld. Yes, they are suave.

Playing music that sounds like the raw punk of The Sonics mixed with the sleazy rhythm & blues of Andre Williams, The Millipedes can do super-stupid horror themed punk trash and seedily beautiful blues, sometimes at the same time. They are also available for your wedding band needs—the sight of a tent full of well dressed drunks dancing to “Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow” is not easily forgotten.

The Nuns (London) - http://www.myspace.co/itsnuntime
It's Nuns time! An all lady six piece band that just loves The Monks. They play their songs. An idea so simple in it's genius. It's Nuns Time! Be sure to get in early to catch this amazing band rip up a riot of 60s beats and riffs.

Now with this rather fab flyer:

And Milchman - this is the first of 2, count them, launch shows. The second one is a little less garage rock in outlook - but it will be on 21/11 @ Ryan's Bar again.

Can't do this Saturday Trev - missus is out. Will try and make the 21st. I am never going to see The Nuns at this rate.

I'm super excited that today has finally arrived.

The boxsets have arrived they LOOK and SOUND stunning. I mean really stunning! They come with three 7" singles with their own artwork, a CD with all the songs and a bonus one too! and two badges! This is all houses in a stunning box, an Odd Box if you will.

And here are the stage times for later on:

Doors are a 8pm

8:45 The Nuns
9:30 The Millipedes
10:25 Lot Lizards

It would be really nice to see some SoundsXPers along for this night!

What a top fucking night!

Garage rock-a-go-go!

All bands and a near full venue meant the spirit of rock'n'roll was being main lined in Stoke Newington tonight!

Thanks to bands, dancers, drinkers and simple show watchers!

Thrilled. Beyond belief. Anyone that missed The Millipedes should MAKE SURE to catch their 2nd show on 21st November. Ace stuff.

Thanks!

And yeah, I really needed Bovine wandering pestering people (mainly ladies) to part with cash for the records, not sure I can actually do that direct selling thing that well!

:-) I hope the Wurzels like the boxset!
