Hmm tough one, as I have tended to buy mostly secondhand/ backcatalogue / reissues this year. I guess if I look at it in terms of stuff I play the most then it would probably be:- The Unicorns "Who will cut our hair when were gone" (although I think this actually came out last year, it's just me being a johnny come lately) Deerhoof "Milkman" Mystic Chords of Memory album + Modest Mouse, and the Joy Zipper album if you skip that song about Alzeihmers. The Shins album is great too,but I bought that last November so probably doesn't count. Also, I cannot recommend enough that you get the Kinks "Village Green Preservation Society" deluxe 3-cd reissue + Sonic Boom's "Spacelines" compilation. I guess there's alot of stuff I haven't got round to buying yet (e.g Concretes, Kings of Convenience, Bonnie Prince Billy) Also looking forward to new albums by the Fiery Furnaces (which for some reason has already been released in the states, but doesn't come out here till September), Luna, and Cornershop. The unicorns are doing a few UK dates over the next few weeks - could be interesting. |
