Well it's all virtually over now and sadly I ended up watching a fair few hours of it. Some of it was awful (hello Mariah Carey) and some of it disappointing (The Who) but there was only one act who I really enjoyed and wanted to stay on for longer (Robbie Williams)

less than 6 months ago i was having a conversation with a fellow floyd fan about weather or not roger would rejoin for a tour...looks like it might happen. THANK YOU

just caught the end of it there, have to say i liked the who, thought wont get fooled again was pretty cool, steve white(i think?) doing an excellent job on drums, tough shoes to step into,
best of what i saw though was floyd, sounded unbelievably good i thought, especially for a band not onstage together for however many years it was! must be like riding a bike!

in australia you needed foxtel(cable) to watch the whole thing. we get 3 hours of highlights tonight at 8:30 on free to air tv. what did floyd play?

i saw half of money, then wish you were here, and finished with comfortably numb, might have played a couple before money, dont think so but maybe, missed it if they did

I caught random slices of the London concert during the day (basically, every time England lost a wicket or plonked a rank long-hop to mid-wicket I'd check out the gig) and what I saw made me want to KILL.

All too often I'd tune in to see some half-wit muso lecturing the crowd about "justice". Listen, mate, if there was any justice in the world you'd be serving me a Big Mac and fries instead of peddling your tired old rock nonsense to a bunch of nouveau-hippies with a "patronise-me" fetish, so why don't you just shut up and play?

Trouble is, when they played it was EVEN WORSE. Let's face it: most pop bands don't translate well to the simplistic atmosphere of the open-air concert where all subtlety is stripped away and only broad caricatures thrive. So the majority of acts on offer were always going to sound piss-poor. But I wasn't expecting them to sound quite as piss-poor as they did.

Dido can't sing, the Floyd are an embarrassment to the nation, U2, Elton Bloody John. Oh Jesus H Christ on a bike drowning in his own tears, it was terrible.

If I was Africa, after watching that I'd say "forget about lifting trade sanctions, just hand over a few nuclear warheads and leave the rest to us".

The one who really needs a PR person to step in and examine how they appear to the rest of the world is Mariah Carey. She's just got on the stage and starts demanding water and then a mike stand, patronises a load of African children and then breaks the golden rule of these charity affairs by announcing "This one is a new song...". TWAT. And if there's a single person on the planet who still thinks Dido can sing then they need their ears testing. Missed Madonna sadly and bizarrely many people have said favourable things about Razorlight but I'd like to add Annie Lennox to Robbie as highlights. She may be semi-retured these days so it could be argued she shouldn't even be on the stage in 2005 but she's got a great voice and oozes presence.
