Wild Beasts
Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants

I initially dismissed this Wild Beasts debut single release as style over substance but upon a second listen there is something about Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants. The Leeds based 4 piece lyrically are an acquired taste with Hayden Norman Thorpe’s style set to divide opinion but the subject choice is nothing new, essentially about making the most of our time here (“Adopting this young spirit of sin, To make the most, before we turn to ghost”).
This is honest leftfield pop that subscribes to none of the current trends and, to prove it isn’t a fluke, b-side The Old Dog is equally as charming and unfashionable. “There’s life in the old dog yet” indeed.
