Once again our writers have delved back through the hazy mists of their befuddled minds and delivered their verdict on the year just gone to conjure up a list of the very best.

The outcome proves to be a collective mark of appreciation to the scuzzy guitar hounds from NYC, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, winners of the album and singles of the year awards and also top three in the live act category.
