Yoof. If he'd been doing Manic Miner or Jet Set Willy, then it'd have the requisite nostalgic kick, as it is I'm just thinking "what's Mega Man when it's at home"?

He does look rather similar to a friend's ex who had been in a barber shop quartet though. Obviously it's not uncommon to go a bit grungy after early close-harmony singing experiences.

Mega Man series is FAR from new guys! I had Mega Man and Mega Man 2 in the 90s on Gameboy when I was a kid, and I think the series goes back further than that, possibly into the 80s.

I never had a games console. My mates had Spectrums and stuff and we had a BBC computer at school (either one per class or 1 for 2 classes, can't remember) and it wasn't on those.

We got an Amstrad when I was 10 or 11. It wasn't on that either. I was never really a gamer...

Bovey, back when you were in short trousers what was your fave toy?

And back when Milchman was a boy, riding around on his penny farthing, what would his fave toy have been?

Did toys exist back then or would a stick and a healthy imagination have to suffice...?

Airfix soldiers (big and little), Action Men and Johnny Combats, Subbuteo, toy guns, fag cards, marbles, etc. The requirement for a lot of imagination really was the difference.

I also loved subbuteo, used to do a league and everything. And toy guns/war toys I think are rammed down the neck of every generation, just with a different update each time.

The state-of-the art home gaming of the very early 80s. We had both of these. Now they're in the museum.



But the top we had was Sky Attack 3D. At top level when you reached scores in the thousands it was ludicrously, unfeasibly, fast. No conscious thought involved. Impossible to get near that level while filming 'cos of the eyepieces:
