Loads of great 45s that didn't fit into my top 5. At least thirty true classics in their first four years.
Plenty of room for debate too, with no doubt some of you favouring the Smiths era and some maybe even going for the much later years.

Oh and you mentioned people going for different years. The late 70s stuff I know but not well enough. I know the bands but would need to listen to the song to recognise it. I'd probably know about half. Could EASILY have just done 80s, although I've never been a big Smiths fan, I do like them. But could pick 80s ones I prefer.

They had a big resurgence in the 00s. Could do a top 20 from that period without even thinking about it.
