SOUNDSXP PRESENTS BAD FRIDAY!
http://www.wegottickets.com/event/257031

Our inaugural festival at the Brixton Windmill on Good Friday. Ticket price also includes BBQ food.

SHOPPING
https://soundcloud.com/shoppingband

Shopping are a three piece band based in London and tipped by SoundsXP for great things in 2014. If you like your music to be so jarring, angular and funky that The Slits and Gang of Four could consider adoption, then London's post punkers Shopping are the band for you. Debut album Consumer Complaints is out now on Milk Records.
or their exciting, incendiary live shows. Debut album 'Sun' is out now on Art is Hard Records.

THE GRAPHITE SET
http://thegraphiteset.com/music/

The Graphite Set were that new band creating a stir at End of the Road festival last Summer with magnetic frontwoman Lily Buchanan channelling the fervent spirit of Patti Smith. Their recent single Grayson Perry was single of the week in Clash and caught the ears of Jarvis Cocker who featured them on his show on BBC 6 Music.

RAVIOLI ME AWAY
https://soundcloud.com/ravioli-me-away

Ravioli Me Away work within a exacting triangle of sound; slapped snare, prodded keys and bass pulse providing a delirious future pop backdrop for tales of cat calls and Tequila Sunrises. This is smart, aware, alive music, seeing the group concentrating carefully on how it’s presented in the live realm with previous shows featuring cooked omelets and fly-fishing, what comes next we can only guess at.

AMPLINE (US)
http://ampline.net/

The last time Mike Montgomery was over in the UK he was touring with Kelley Deal of Breeder's fame as R.Ring but now he's back with the raucous Ampline. They make big rock along the lines of Drive Like Jehu and Fugazi, but mercifully minus a howling animal on the microphone.

WITCHING WAVES
http://witchingwaves.tumblr.com/

Witching Waves have only recently birthed but have already soldered an effective, minimalist framework between female/male vocal interplay, binary drumming and a solo guitar conjuring the ghosts of underground 90s riot grrrl punk.

FIRESTATIONS
http://www.firestationsband.com/

Firestations are a dream-pop/pysch-folk five piece inspired by the likes of American Analog Set, Yo La Tengo, The Wave Pictures. They've recently added a driving rhythm section and embraced the possibilities of loud repetition. Motorik rhythms, fuzzed up guitar solos and electronic noises with a keen ear for pop structure.

AS ONDAS
http://asondas.bandcamp.com/

Great no-wave-surf melodies with a great injection of lo-fi pop.

So... new change to the line up!

Here is the final line up

SOUNDSXP PRESENTS BAD FRIDAY!

SKINNY GIRL DIET

This music is wonderful: brash, unafraid, reared and raised on my peers (Babes In Toyland, Heavens To Betsy, old school grunge). Female. Teenage. Reminds me of Skinned Teen a little, but it would. Riot Grrrl, like I always understood it … i.e. female empowering, and not scared to experiment with new musical forms, and not rooted. Exciting, because this music could go anywhere. There’s a Tumblr blog full of cat pictures and vaguely menacing attitude. Of course there is. There’s a great song on the MySpace called ‘Eyes That Paralyze’ which mixes the spirit of the ‘lost’ Slits Rough Trade/Y album with some Furious Pig-style harmonics and wickedly distorted guitars. Of course there is. The band are from London. Of course they … no wait, that’s one reason why they sound so refreshing. This music is often American. Miasmic repetition. Sure there’s miasmic repetition. There are a couple of free downloads on the Soundcloud page. Of course there are … and of course they aren’t the best songs. Nathan from The Gossip would LOVE this – it’s Gothic, grunge AND teen female." EVERETT TRUE -
