Don't forget the great gig we've coming up at The Lexington this Thursday. In an exciting development Darren Rademaker will be playing with a full band that includes members of Comet Gain and The Loves. I've seen the set list and fans of The Tyde will not be disappointed!

THE SHAKY HANDS
In their hometown of Portland, Oregon, The Shaky Hands are the one band that virtually everyone agrees on, now that they’ve added a layer of Doors' psychedelia to their early Talking Heads-influenced sound. In a world of throwaway pop, this quintet has built itself from the ground up, naturally and beautifully. It's just that instead of being the quintessential summertime rock band, the new Shaky Hands are a band for all seasons.
"The Shaky Hands' obvious reference points - the second and third Wilco albums, from the days before Jeff Tweedy started trying to be Thom Yorke, much-loved debuts by the Go-Betweens, REM or the Violent Femmes, Camper Van Beethoven's 'Take the Skinheads Bowling' - might not seem like the stuff of rock'n'roll satori. And yet the freshness and vitality with which the band put these familiar influences together cannot be gainsayed" (Obsever Music Monthly ****)

DARREN RADEMAKER (THE TYDE)
Darren Rademaker is the lead vocalist/guitarist in The Tyde. The Tyde formed in 1998, a year after the breakup of Darren’s previous band, Further, a formidable L.A.-based outfit that was influenced by U.K. shoegaze acts (especially those on the Creation label) as well as fellow indie rockers like Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, Sebadoh, and Guided by Voices. The Tyde themselves instantly brought to mind classic 60s jangle pop bands such as Buffalo Springfield and the Byrds but also drew comparisons to many bands British in origin, including '80s and early-'90s bands like Felt and Lloyd Cole and the Commotions (Rademaker’s dusky, laconic vocals do sound a bit like Cole's romantically throaty warble). Their debut, Once, was released in March 2001. A sophomore effort, Twice, appeared two years later, followed by Three's Co. in June 2006.
“Felt-like excitement from LA Anglophiles” (NME)

BRONTOSAURUS CHORUS

How can you not adore a group called Brontosaurus Chorus? Featuring Pop-Art mastermind Scooby Dom, t’Chorus have a host of instantly lovable songs - traces of B&S, Hidden Cameras, the runaway day-glo pop of Tullycraft, and the sense that here’s a band that knows how to leave you smiling. Appearances at Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival and a trip to Berlin were followed by a debut single. They’re currently hard at work on a follow-up.
“London’s Brontosaurus Chorus are purveyors of Technicolor dream pop. They come off not unlike a less mental Los Campesinos jumping around with Arcade Fire’s bubblegum pop playing cousins in a parallel universe…” (God Is In The TV Zine)
