I don't think Everton fans detest United as a whole, but fair play.

Regarding breaking the top 4 - if you look at the other clubs who are competing with you for 4th (Liverpool, Spurs, Villa) and then compare their transfer activity over the previous 2 windows with your own you'll notice a huge difference both in how they spent and in how they handled themselves.

I remember the whole Kaka debacle, it was surreal.

In fact, if you look at EVERY other club in the PL and make that same comparison it still stands up.

Actually, barring Real Madrid, the point would still stand if you made the same comparison with every club in Europe (thus the world)!

Are you being serious? All sounds a bit bitter to me...

Of course there were some daft moments (Kaka being the very daftest) which I wouldn't defend. But to compare us with Liverpool (who've spent a fortune on average players and gone backwards) and Spurs who've spent over the last six or seven years far far more than everyone apart from Chelsea, including way more than Arsenal, and virtually the same amount as you. Again they've just not spent wisely. Villa have spent less but still a fair whack and I hope they get rewarded with a Euro place. The difference in all this is though that we were fighting against relegation only 2 or 3 seasons ago. The season Sheff U went down we were right down there. Spurs, Villa and Liverpool weren't. They've been qualifying for Europe through finishing 5th, 6th or 7th. You don't go from relegation battlers to fighting for 4th place by spending next to nowt.

And we have an office on Merseyside. Believe me, Everton fans hate United.

Haha! Of course, if you go back 6 or 7 seasons most of the teams you're competing for 4th with have spent more. But that wasn't my point.

City fans don't like how they're perceived, and more than that, the very identity of the club in most City fans' hearts was that of the 'hard done by', 'real' Manchester Club, and that has gone literally overnight.

I'm not bitter, obviously, but i'm a United fan, and I do hate City and enjoy laughing at them when it is possible for me to do so.

My claim regarding Everton may've been incorrect, and if so I stand corrected. I do know a lot of Everton fans, and there is often a strong element of ipso facto United favouring from them, due to Liverpool of course. Also Phil Neville is loved by both sets of fans and has never recieved anything but support by most United fans.
