4231 and we could go far. Stick with 442 and we'll be out soon.

-----------Barry-----------------------------Lampard--------
Lennon---------------------Gerrard------------------J.Cole
-----------------------------Rooney--------------------------
Pros -
1. Slips easy into a 451 if defending desperately
2. Our 3 most creative players are all in their preferred positions
3. The entire left half of the above team play together week in week out for the PL champions.
4. Ashley Cole can bomb upfield and not leave a massive gap exposed where Gerrard isn't.
Cons -
Capello has to compromise...
Seriously, I've played for youth teams where you'd switch from 442 to 451 on the hour mark if a game wasn't clicking, this is fucking basic stuff. Capello has a decent squad of players there, all of which are desperate to do well, he has to do his job now and MANAGE them.
He seems to be baffled as to why the 442 that worked so well in qualification is suddenly being sussed out and negated with ease...it's almost as if when teams come to the World Cup they actually research the other teams in their group! Even the favourites of the group! Who would've thunk it, Fabio?
Rooney has just had a phenomenal season flourishing as one of the best lone strikers on the planet (even when Berbatov plays he's pretty much a lone striker due to D.B dropping so deep), Gerrard is one of the most dangerous attacking midfielders in the fucking tournament and has just been given the armband so surely should be played in his own position, and Joe Cole is actually good (and internationally experienced) at playing on the left!
And while I'm ranting, why the fuck is Beckham sat on the bench with the manager and players!? He's not part of the squad, he shouldn't be there.
Other than that I'm thoroughly enjoying the WC so far. Some of the 'smaller' teams have played some nice stuff - Chile, Uruguay, Ghana, all the Asian teams have played quite nice football, North Korea particularly impressed me during their loss to Brazil, if they can handle Ronaldo I think they could easily beat Portugal, and it was lovely to see the glory boys of Spain getting beaten by the lanky yet determined Swiss.
