Hello,

I’m delighted to announce that our guest DJs will be Big Pink Cake! Matthew and Heather have been putting on wonderful bands in Bristol over the years such as Tender Trap, The Kick Inside, Vic Godard and Subway Sect, The Manhattan Love Suicides, Phi Wilson, The Give It Ups, Pocketbooks, Horowitz and the fantastic Electrophönvintage so I can’t wait to hear what they’re going to play!

Doors open at 9pm so get there early as we filled up really quickly last time and our guest DJs will be on from 10.30pm. Be sure to send me your requests, I’ve got some fantastic 2010 releases that I’m itching to play.

Friday 26th February
King's Cross Social Club
9pm - 2am
Admission is free all night.

Underground & Overground: King's Cross St. Pancras
Buses: 10, 17, 30, 45, 46, 59, 63, 73, 91, 205, 214, 259, 390 and 476

Paul x

A quick reminder to write your song requests on the event wall for this Friday (http://xr.com/b0k). What would you like to hear?

Our guest DJs Big Pink Cake will be on about 10ish. I’ve been in Edinburgh for the past week so you can expect a wee bit more Scottish indie pop than usual!

A few people asked about drinks last time – if you prefer draught beer, rather than bottle, you can buy it downstairs and bring it up to the Joan Collins Lounge. It’s cheaper that way.

If you’re coming from Popfest we’re just one stop southbound on the tube at King’s Cross or you can catch the number 30 bus. Admission is free all night and there will be mixtapes for those who get there early!

We're very excited to welcome former Chelsea, Everton and Scotland international footballer Pat Nevin as our guest DJ this month. Whilst not playing in the same 7-a-side team as Stuart Murdoch and Colin McIntyre, Pat has DJed at HDIF, The Flying Duck and Born to Be Wide and lists Joy Division, The Fall, Cocteau Twins, Belle and Sebastian, Camera Obscura and The Go-Betweens as some of his favourite bands. A former pal of John Peel, Pat has exquisite taste and I can't wait!

We'll be playing the best in classic and new indie pop, post-punk, C86, jangle pop, Sarah, Postcard, new wave and protopunk dancefloor fillers in the Joan Collins Lounge.

This month’s guest DJ is Elizabeth from the superb Allo Darlin’! Having just released their debut album on Fortuna Pop! it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite albums of the year. I really hope you didn’t miss them on their last tour or at SXSW. Check out these videos to wet your appetite! The John Hughes inspired The Polaroid Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un4e4VN1ANE and the new single Dreaming featuring Monster Bobby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDM_DyoGGSA

We’ll be playing a heavy dose of new and classic indie pop, a sprinkling of post-punk and with a dash of C86 and jangle pop. All that and it’s FREE admission all night!

Any requests?

I’m delighted to announce that Betty and the Werewolves will be our guest DJs this month! Hot on the heels of storming the Camden Crawl, they’ve just finished recording their debut album Tea Time Favourites which will be hitting the shops in July on Damaged Goods. After releasing one of my favourite singles from last year, “David Cassidy”, and awesome hits like “Euston Station” and the forthcoming “Paper Thin”, I can’t wait to hear what songs influence them.

All that and it’s FREE. What would you like to hear?

Elsewhere, I’m currently working on our very first fanzine! It will feature interviews with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Standard Fare, Allo Darlin’, Darren Hayman, Pocketbooks, Hissing at Swans and many more. Plus! features on independent record labels, The Story of Sarah Records and an exclusive EP by The Understudies! It will be available at our night in June and also at Indietracks. Meanwhile you can join the Facebook group at http://tinyurl.com/ScaredToDance and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/ScaredToDance for all the latest happenings.

We’re ridiculously excited to welcome ex-Hefner frontman Darren Hayman as our guest DJ this month! Darren has written some of our favourite songs over the years and we consider him one of the best songwriters in the country. With classic albums like The Fidelity Wars and We Love the City we can’t wait to hear what he’s going to play.

As its July, it’ll also be our Post-Indietracks special! The premise is simple, we play lots of the bands who are playing the festival as it’s just one week before the night. So expect to hear The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, The Primitives, Ballboy, Slow Club, Allo Darlin’ alongside what we usually play. It’s free entry before 10pm and just £3 after.

We’ve just sold out of fanzines but I’m going to be doing another print run. They’ll be on sale at Indietracks and this night. Alternatively, you can order one by emailing admin@scaredtodance.co.uk. You can also join our Facebook group at http://tinyurl.com/scaredtodance and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/scaredtodance

We’re doing something slightly different this month and having ourselves Camera Obscura special! That’s right, we’ll be playing songs from the bands four albums throughout the night along with your usual mix of indiepop, post-punk and new wave.

Our guest DJs will be the lovely Helen and Bob from Shrag. They’ll be copies of their new album Life! Death! Prizes! available to buy on the door. We’re incredibly excited by this as it doesn’t hit the shops until early October.

They’ll be brand new Scared To Dance badges on sale and free copies of our second ever mixtape to the first 25 people through the door! Remember it’s free to get in before 10pm. What would you like to hear?

This month we’re launching our Autumn fanzine at the club night. Our lead interview is with Cats On Fire who talk to us about new material and coming back to play in Britain. Also, we’ve got a track-by-track rundown of the new Tender Trap LP Dansette Dansette by indiepop legend Amelia Fletcher and The Specific Heats tell us about their recent European tour. Meanwhile we catch up with Shrag, Pocketbooks and Moustache Of Insanity. And if that wasn’t enough we’ve got an Odd Box Records Showcase EP as part of the zine. Bless Me Iggy For I Have Sinned features exclusive songs from:

1. The Humms – Are You Dead?
2. The Blanche Hudson Weekend – Fever Van
3. Sarandon – Expecting Joe
4. Boundary JIM – House of the Seven Gables
5. The Medusa Snare – Tripping

We’re welcoming Stefan Larsen from Northern Portrait as our guest DJ. From the man who wrote such gems as “Crazy” and “I Give You Two Seconds to Entertain Me” I cannot wait to hear what he’s going to play. Please send me your song requests as I try and fit in as many as I can on the night.

Scared To Dance is a monthly night in London playing indiepop, post-punk and new wave hits at King's Cross Social Club.

This month we're joined by those "goofy conceptualists" (The New York Times) Moustache of Insanity! On the back of their mini-album on WeePOP! they're currently working on their first album proper which we can't wait to hear. DJs from Manchester's finest indiepop night Cherry Coloured Pop will be spinning tracks early doors so be sure to get in before 10pm for free entry.

They'll be copies of our Autumn fanzine on sale on the door along with our cool badges. Expect to hear The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Allo Darlin', Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths, Jens Lekman, Hefner, Jonathan Richman, David Bowie, Joy Division, Shrag, Orange Juice, The Cure.
