Pathetic from the FA. Who else in recent memory has had the 'automatic' and 'standard' sanctions applied? The West Ham player who clearly told the ref to f**k off later in that game didn't even get a talking to, let alone a card, etc... Apply the bans to all or no-one, that's all we ask (well, I do anyway).

Ah but you're forgetting that it's far more entertaining to ban Rooney for a bit.

More imaginative punishments would be welcome. He should be forced to play the rest of the season with an S&M ball gag to stop him saying anything to anyone.
