Crackin goal.

Seems the recent splurge of cash on players by Yoonited is being funded by the Qatari royal family prior to an attempt to buy the club off the Glaziers (this is all according to the Star so probably made-up). If true though...

What do our resident rags think of the possibility of being funded by wealthy Arabs? :wink:

I watched a bit of it over the weekend and enjoyed it The commentators are banal though and they are so interested in stats you miss some of the coverage - that goal was almost missed live. That said it's far more entertaining than the Russian league whch is also on ESPN at the mo.

Naturally the US commentators have a US style, but I'd say they're better than they used to be, say, ten years ago. Like Bola said, they talk stats a lot - which is very common in other US sports. They love stats in the US it seem!

T'other thing is they do talk it up a lot, which is a bit daft at times ("He has to be one of the most explosive strikers in the country" = on the bench for Southend Reserves) but I guess that's not surprising as I get the impression MLS is really looked down upon in the States.

That aside, I think it's a good league to watch. I can get into it more than other foreign leagues just 'cos of the language and there's loads of websites, blogs, etc. For exampe, I've taken on Portland Timbers as my team to support and they have a very active facebook page.
