I usually find displays of mass public sanctimony like this tedious and mildly depressing. Even when I agree with the sentiment they often bring the complaint down to the level of those being complained about. There's an element of this here, it's classic Mail- style witch hunt tactics.

In this case though, sod it, "live by the sword, die by the sword" I reckon.

Thing is there is little I can practically do by way of changes to my everyday life to join in. Never buy the papers, don't have a Sky subscription, can say for certain that I haven't even paid to see a Fox film in the last 5 years (I've seen 3 films at the cinema in that time, all Disney).

I tried flicking a v at the report of Edvard Boassen Hagen winning yesterday's Tour stage for Team Sky, but my heart wasn't in it. Any tentacles of the empire I haven't yet noticed that might serve?

I largely agree with Matt.

However, I do have hope that this saga will keep the Murdoch's ultra-conservative braying at bay for at least a while. I doubt they'll be trotting out their 'the BBC is a evil socialist anachronism' crap for a few weeks at least.

This is a very entertaining read and funny though it is, it's frightening how Maxwell has changed the way papers work and how much they can rule our lives!
