Pleased to see Head, Anarchy's local mini chain music store (in the Glades, Bromley), now has a sizeable vinyl section. A quick perusal suggests it's represses of classics and big label indie/rock/americana but it's a start. Even more welcome as the only rival, HMV, is now little more than a DVD, iPhone cover and headphone emporium.

Interesting that a spokesman from HMV offered a view. Can't remember the last time I saw vinyl in one of their shops.

Saw that. It's after a false report that majors were dropping the format... which they've now denied as 'nonsense'.

Good news though, especially if it brings down the price of records as more get sold so more get pressed. I'd happily buy an LP over a CD if there wasn't the current 5 quid average difference.

Now HMV have been given a 2 year stay of execution to save them from going under. Banks have bailed them out and major labels have injected cash through shares to ensure they still have a major national specialist outlet to peddle their wares.
