well it's got to start some time and this week looks like it's most important for Forest and Lens.

Lens' long-time president Gervais Martel has failed to come up with the cash so the bank now own the club and he's on his way. New president Luc Dayan apparently something of a 'clubs in difficulty' specialist, with a mixed track record. First move has been to bring in Antoine Sibierski as Director of Football...

And Forest are about to be picked up by a Kuwaiti industrial fridge magnate after all. Who knows how rich, but apparently his liking for Warnock remains...

Despite not really seeing football as an Olympic sport, (I think the Olympics should only have sports for which it is some sort of pinnacle of ultimate achievement to win a gold medal), I'm finding myself strangely intrigued by England's squad. Not that I'm expecting them to win or anything (especially with the Spanish squad including three of their Euro winning side), but I just like the idea of an England team free of the baggage of past failure.

Anyhoo, Forest confirmed with flush Kuwaiti owners, Lens stuck under temporary ownership of the bank.

One club is making some interesting new signings, the other is losing all its best players to clubs at a similar or lower level. Can you guess which is which?

oo-er, and Forest have just ditched Cotterill. I suspect it'll be taken a bit like Calderwood going - ie seems a bit harsh, given what they acheived, not to be given more of a go, but no feeling that we've lost someone who was definitely going to take the club on to better things.

Strange, Leeds are rumoured to be getting a Kuwaiti owner today too. Could be an interesting season in the Championship. Poor old Palace are shedding players by contrast. Not looking forward to going to see that shower of shite regularly next season.

Rodgers being quite happy to chin Carroll off seems inkeeping with his footballing philosophy of copying what Spain are doing. "They've got no-one in their squad over 6 foot? Better get selling...". Heh, I think he's easy to mock but I've been impressed with what he's been saying so far - powerful and eloquent. Let's hope that translates onto the pitch.

He's third choice Italy striker so he can't be too bad. Mind you Balotelli is first choice and is not guaranteed to get into our team. But then that's another story...
