Nice one, Kev.

Never heard of it so popped in today. It's only been open 6 weeks, and has positioned itself in the underground coach station (which is totally out of view) next to another record shop which has a far broader selection.

It's stock is pretty much albums (on 12" and CD) released in the last 5 years, mainly alternative guitar orientated stuff. Some good stuff.

Downsides for me were there basically no 7"s, I mean there wasn't even a section for 7"s, and no tapes, but a fair amount of records that were released on tape (recently). And the stock was definitely limited.

Saying that, they've only been open 6 weeks, so I'll definitely visit again.

It's good that somewhere new is open and looking beyond just selling records though. Small gigs like that in the evening is a great idea.

I'm going to HMV tonight with my now valid again voucher before they change their minds or go on fire accidentally on purpose.

Going to get Yo La Tengo's new LP & Melody's Thingy Thing (but I'm a bit wary of that after hearing the 2nd Tame Impala LP. Sludgey rubbish. Buy a new guitar pedal idiot!) any other suggestions? In the next hour?

Rough Trade considering opening more shops following HMV's demise*



Interesting Travis mentions Manchester as a location - a place that already has a superb and similar existing store - Piccadilly Records. I guess there's room for both but it'd be awful if it caused problems for both retailers.


* Some of this is presumptious as the company's been bought out and I guess it's not just to keep the domain name as some of the individual shops were still profitable.
