Broadfield Marchers: Displayed in Reflections
From Louisville, Kentucky, the Broadfield Marchers are brothers Mark and Dustin Zdobylak whose third release (consisting of 16 short tracks) is one-paced melodic guitar-pop. It might appeal to a person whose collection is full of Beatles, Byrds, early Who, REM and Robyn Hitchcock records, as elements of all those are found here. But it's a less well-developed form of each; over the course of the album each song follows a similar format, all with underpowered vocals, although they're also full of melodic twists. Comparisons to the Shins and Lilys in the press release are overstated - it needs a shot of ambition and adrenaline before it can aspire to those levels.
