Dial M For Murder: Fiction of her Dreams
If Interpol and the Editors steal mercilessly from their 80s inspirations, here's a Swedish duo that copy the copyists. In fact, you'd probably believe that 'You Said' was a new Interpol track so good is the likeness, while they even have a song called 'NYC (Now You Care)'. Vocally it's very Paul Banks and it shares a darkness with that band ('Hell No' challenges you to: “kill me, I don't care/ I don't want to live"). For all its derivative ways (the drum patterns are so 80s) there are actually some interesting tracks: 'There's Nothing Left To See' is built on a majestic riff while there are melodic swirls on 'Do You Think So? I Don't' and 'The Mourning Comes The Morning After' hypnotises you into following it down a dark rhythmic rabbit hole. Fans of the Cure and Chameleons, not to mention the aforesaid Interpol, might find something comfortingly familiar.
