Oh No Ono, do you do voodoo?
All over the globe, those groups of robe-clad oddities who make occasional trips into town to draw funny looks from the locals have clearly been stocking up. Not on anthrax powder or WMD, but on instruments and immense record back catalogues. And they've been turning them into curious, patchily marvellous, double albums of bucolic psychedelic pop and rock.
Danish cousins to the Akron/Family, there's a similar intangible, almost sinister, undercurrent to Oh No Ono's otherwise wide-eyed floaty-headed folk-pop loveliness. Adorned with clouds of electronica, they're unafraid to recall some of the more pixieish and proggy elements of 70s music - though I'm not sure if Icicles is more Sparks or Supertramp. I suspect it wouldn't take too long for it to get wearing, but for all that this is really kind of endearing.
