Sing Me To Sleep
Sing Me To Sleep is a project devised to benefit The Valerie Fund, an American charity that supports children with cancer or blood disorders. It’s nice to know that for once our cash is assisting something worthwhile rather than funding The Man’s decadent foibles. The 14-song album features classic and modern-day children’s lullabies as interpreted by a variety of generous indie folk. Don’t worry though this crib rock appeals to us big kids too.
Stars kick things off with an aptly soporific version of Asleep, originally by the Smiths and finishes with Rainbow Connection by Trespassers William, originally by a green glove puppet on the Muppets. Both are wonderfully tender but they bookend a lot of quirky numbers like Little Boxes by The Real Tuesday Weld and Inchworm by The Leisure Society. Chockfull of surprises it’s like a musical jamboree bag, perfect for savvy toddlers and their funloving carers.
There’s a limited version with extra tracks available for a short time too. Tracks:
