4 or 5 Magicians
The 2nd or 3rd EP

Article written by Mary B - Jul 19, 2007

I'm not sure why this brighton based band are called '4 or 5 magicians' but they can conjure up some magic music when necessary. The title of this demo, The 2nd or 3rd EP, is confusing but their intentions are clear.

The press release tells me that they take 'their main influence from the golden era of alt-rock, early 90's america.' All I know is that I like them from the minute I hear the opening lines, 'I wasted my youth playing cricket, I pinned all my hopes on a lottery ticket.' My favourite song out of the three tracks on offer here is 'Forever on the edge.' where the former stated lyrics have been taken from. It's an account of the struggles that up and coming bands face. With songs like this such struggles should disappear into thin air for these lot. They're magic!
