The J-Pegs Nancy Sinatra

Article written by Ged M
Oct 16, 2007.

In their heads it’s always the 60s. These lost boys are dedicated to a very English psych-pop and freakbeat sound, playing musical tribute to the sound of the Beatles, Kinks, Eyes and Zombies that so obviously obsess them. Nowt wrong with that though: learn from the best. Our trip into the time tunnel starts with ‘Nancy Sinatra’, which is whimsical Kinks-style beatpop with a salacious edge. On hearing the lyrics I suspect that Ms Sinatra will apply for a restraining order though. The other standout of the 4 tracks is ‘Make It Up’, out-jangling the Bishops with their early Beatles fetish. From the Hertfordshire hinterland, this is lush retro pop from a less ironic age. The J-Pegs are the bastard children that John Lennon never knew.
