Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Animal Collective’s take on the HUGE single “Zero” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, is not your typical remix. Like most of Animal Collective’s work, it’s not exactly normal nor conventional. Instead, this track is a whole new take on the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as a band and showcases Karen O’s talent as a solo musician, or even vocalist, as her voice is one of the only things that isn’t heavily modified, or even done without and gotten rid of in this remix. While compared to other remixes of the same track (the “RAC Mix” and Erol Alkan remixes spring to mind), this remix in particular is like the original track’s evil twin that will probably be forever overlooked as one of the smallest things both bands put their name to.

However, while slow moving and nearly directly opposite to the original track, this remix is a calm and even soothing listen for those that don’t want to hear the almost “Stadium Rock”, electrifying single that is Zero.
