For his ballet 'Innervisions', New York artist Nick Mauss commissioned Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon to create the music. It was a choice that seemed somewhat odd on paper but worked so well that it will now be given a limited edition vinyl release accoroding to Exlaim. Just 250 copies will be pressed and will come with silkscreen cover art by Mauss himself. No release date has announced, but you can pre-order your copy now by emailing info@303inprint.com
The performance premiered last October at the Frieze Art Fair in London. It was choreographed by Northern Ballet’s Kenneth Tindall for five dancers and featured text by poet Juliana Huxtable. Gordon performed the music in real time giving the artform a more abrasive edge than it's used to.
