It's easy to underestimate just what impact composer Ennio Morricone has had on poular music, but anyone who adores string-laden and atmospheric pop/indie/rock will surely recognise the influence the man behind classic soundtracks such as 'The Untouchables', 'Once Upon a Time in America', 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' and many more has had on the sounds they listen to. To mark 60 years in the business, Morricone has announced a string of European dates which includes a show at London's O2 Arena on February 16th 2016, as well as a performance at Dublin's 3Arena on February 14th.
Of the shows, Morricone said:
"Performing my work live in all these different cities for people of so many different ages and cultural backgrounds is an incredibly gratifying experience. Next year I will celebrate my professional career of 60 Years during which I composed over 600 works... I will perform a whole new program with new highlights, which I am already working on. Of course there will always be the classic pieces from the great Sergio Leone westerns and The Mission. But overall the experience will be different this time. I plan to include a suite for example with pieces of music, which I composed for 7 different movies which all won Oscars."
