'Open Your Heart' is pristine LA pop combining a Motown beat and a kaleidoscope of instruments that accompany the creamy voice of opera-trained Becky Stark. The simple and uncomplicated melodies make it completely addictive. Flip it over to find the mournful tones of Colin Meloy singing 'Oh No'. Played on acoustic guitar, it's plainer than the Lavender Diamond original but just as affecting and it carries a more direct message than the poetic and oblique Decemberists normally deliver.
