Arcade Fire supporting Canadians, Malajube release this rather messy track as a taster to their forthcoming album Trompe-L’oeil. The artwork on the single’s cover suggests a somewhat abstract nature to the band with the representation of tracheas and lungs as birds.
Fille A Plumes explodes into life in a manner quite unfitting for a track which translates as Feathered Girl, but this exciting beginning is a false dawn. With vocals sounding like they’ve been sung through a Tango megaphone and the track's repetitive nature, the glam-pop feel is a little muted which is a shame as there are some interesting elements: the wonderfully out of place “oooohs” and the spacious strums in the outro. Both of these point to some potential on the album, but it may be a gamble not worth taking.
