Field Music
She Can Do What She Wants/Sit Tighter Memphis Industries

Article written by Elisabetta P - May 13, 2007

‘Smart’ is the adjective that describes Field Music best - intelligent, sophisticated songs verging on the avant-garde in terms of skills and vision but without losing sight of the pop template that maintains them accessible to the many, rather than the few.
For the AA single ‘She Can Do What She Wants’/ ‘Sit Tighter’, the third to be taken from the band’s acclaimed second album ‘Tones of Town’, Field Music play at reinventing influences and their own music. The Motown rhythm section of ‘She can do what she wants’ is gently chased and challenged by strings, electric piano and guitars, in between sparse dialogues of naivety and realisations. For ‘Sit Tighter’ Field Music put to the test their concept of pop music by producing an alternative take of ‘Sit Tight’, stripping the song of its pop piano and beat boxing and turning it into an electro laptop feast that while reconnecting to the album version by means of original piano and guitar sequences and vocals, adds a new inspiring dimension and identity to the song.
