Shitdisco
OK Fierce Panda

Article written by James S - May 8, 2007

Let’s be honest - the moment you decide to call your band Shitdisco is the same instant you accept you’ll never make it. In the self-defeatism stakes, it’s akin to admitting being ginger in a lonely hearts ad or explaining that the gap in your CV is due to a conviction for paedophilia. Or possibly admitting kiddy-fiddling in a personal column and being ginger when applying for a job.

That said, Shitdisco have all the ingredients required for contemporary critical favour i.e. they’re nu-rave. The trouble for those of us who don’t swallow media-created genre bullshit is that nu-rave has apparently little to do with actual old rave, but simply, on this evidence, bands who sound like Franz Ferdinand with harder, faster synths. The result is no more and no less than the title suggests; merely OK.
