The Envy Corps Story Problem EPVertigo

There’s not a lot to envy here. The Envy Corps are an American four piece band signed to a major label (Vertigo) and on evidence of this EP entitled ‘Story problem’ there are more problems than stories to deal with. The Envy Corps do not really offer anything to the listener that they haven’t heard before. It’s just average indie rock. The singles ‘Story Problem’ and ‘Party Dress’ come and go, leaving no lasting impression. Even a song about the controversial poet, Sylvia Plath – ‘Sylvia (the beekeeper)’ does nothing to aid the proceedings. Only ‘Rooftop’ that has traces of Radiohead's 'Street Spirit' in its sound, lifts the EP just slightly above mediocre. The lyrics ‘This is a waste of time’ in the last song 'Party Dress' sums up the overall verdict.
