Considering all the effort that has clearly gone into this single, particularly the building, layered delivery and the variety of instruments used, the ultimate feeling is sadly one of disappointment. Not too shy of four minutes, it's overly long and the tune, despite the parping sax, racing percussion and chirruping keys is actually quite forgettable. Unfortunately the B-side is similarly flawed; the handclaps and polished production masking another attempt at buffing a turd.
Compared with the marvellously lo-fi brittle material the band were putting out last year this is bland mainstream fodder and doesn't auger well for the forthcoming album. Another balloon pops prematurely.
