Crybaby Demon Zoo Music 7”

The first single and a foretaste of the forthcoming Boys album, ‘Crybaby Demon’ is a poppier take on their fuzzed up sound, with a chorus that’s immediate on the first few listens but could become tiresome soon after. Recorded in Mexico City, there’s a fire in the fuzz - they sound like Suicide-with-salsa or a Latin JAMC. Lively enough, but it’s a listener, not a keeper. The flipside is an unironic cover of Hot Chocolate’s ‘U Sexy Thing’, here with a little more fuzz guitar on the famous riff, and some camp bells to end. Fun, frivolous and fairly throwaway.
