It's a subjective thing of course, but sometimes you hear a band for the first time and they tick all the right boxes. If, like me, you're a fan of fuzzed-up guitars, powerpop energy, memorable melodies with a wall of sound/noise production and a dash of distortion, then you might find that Dublin's Galants will find a home in your new favourite bands list.

'This Is Heaven' is the first of three planned singles to be digitally released by the group this summer, and the opening strum of affected shoegaze guitar immediately pricks your ears up. When they follow it with a driving beat, Mary Chain scuzz and Teenage Fanclub melodies, then you could well be caught hook, line and sinker. Another couple of these will certainly brighten up the summer, thanks guys.
