Well, Jesus On Heroine describe themselves as "eclectic", and although they have few wild deviations, this first taster of their second album is a little different to much of the first. That dreamy psychedelia hasn't completely been erased, but new single 'Unicum' boasts a more American feel than the Danes have delivered before, somehow fusing country with their soft-focus production.
Teasing you with a jaunty intro, the drums soon steady the ship to sail through more lethargic waters while the guitars keep a certain sharpness. Eerie vocals are warm rather than cold and ghostly, but if you strip away any production or effects, you'll find what is purely and simply a cracking tune underneath it all. 'Unicum' is neather a case of style over substance or substance over style, but rather a combination of the two working together quite beautifully.
