Put simply, Lilies On Mars are not a duo you want to miss out on, and they've really raised their game for new single 'Dancing Star'. Lisa Masia and Marina Cristofalo are two multi-instrumentalist musicians and producers who released their inventive and luscious debut album last year. You can hear why the likes of Simon Raymonde (ex-Cocteau Twins) and Tom Furse of The Horrors are such fans, and the latter co-produces this track which is the first to be taken from their second long-player, '∆GO', which will be out later this year.
In fact, if you take The Horrors and cross-pollinate them with Cocteau Twins, then give the resulting creation to Stereolab for a remix you'd likely end up with a sweet, hypnotic and curiously danceable tune such as this. A neat blend of psychedelia, krautrock and dreampop, 'Dancing Star' is one of those tracks that could have been made at any time in the last two decades, such is its timeless quality and use of analogue-sounding synths. This shimmers, it sparkles and it shines incredibly brightly; a sumptuous and rich slice of tingling ear candy.
