Manchester’s Los Trasgos Muertos (who are Captain Reed on bass, vocals and organ, Von Beek on guitar and vocals, El Fleishe on drums) are a loud and dirty garage band from Manchester. ‘Fire In The Sky’, the first song on their EP, might sound like a 70s throwback, the bastard son of Sabbath and Purple, but things get more garagey on the other three tracks. The heavy fuzz riffs of ‘It Rises!’ has a lot in common with Ty Segall’s more raucous moments, while ‘Step One’ is pure 60s psychedelic garage rock. However, their finest six minutes are ‘Roll With The Punches’, a turbocharged Thee Oh Sees-style mutant garage rocker, all searing guitar, moaning organ and a fiercely throbbing bass that drives the song. It’s on that song that Manchester and San Francisco become joined by a psychedelic wormhole and Los Trasgos Muertos become truly spacebound.
