This is from the forthcoming second album by James Dean, who's also behind the Cookshop label, and it’s emotive electronic pop. His hushed voice and the ebb and flow of the machines creates an ambient, opiated feel but every so often there is a big melodic rush that sweeps away the melancholy tones. The folkatronic remix (or "IQ Two-Plum Re-jig" to give it its full name), with its elements of dub and tropicalia, is a captivating take on the original. 'A Sorrowful Thing' ends up being a charming mix of electronic pulses and acoustic twangs.
